Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA talks about the life of Vietnam War hero Father Capodanno in an interview with Bob Krebs on the radio program Catholic Forum which aired on WDEL in Wilmington, Del. and WAAI in Cambridge, Mass.
Archbishop Broglio spoke about some of the many things we can learn from the life and heroic death of Father Capodanno, including, “placing our faith in God above all things and the willingness to serve our brothers and sisters” in both extraordinary and ordinary ways. He said, “One of the reasons we recount the lives of the saints is because we need extraordinary examples so that we can appreciate that our ordinary response is also a path to sanctity. The saints teach us to do what Saint Francis of Assisi always said, ‘Preach the Gospel always, and if necessary use words.'”
Archbishop Broglio mentions that those who are interested in assisting the efforts of the Cause for Canonization of Father Capodanno may do so in two ways. The first is to pray for Father Capodanno’s intercession. Those who would like to help in this way may find a list of prayers on the Guild web site. The second way is to contribute financially to help the Capodanno Guild raise the necessary resources that will be needed in order to pursue the Cause for Canonization
